DNS zones enable the delegation of authority for managing DNS records within specific domains. For example, a company might delegate authority for its subdomains (e.g., sales.example.com, marketing.example.com) to different departments or teams within the organization.
DNS zones can be used for load distribution and balancing by distributing DNS records across multiple authoritative DNS servers. This helps distribute traffic more evenly and improves the availability and performance of services hosted on different servers.
To add a DNS zone, follow the steps below:
Navigate to Settings > DNS.
Expand the Advanced Configuration section by clicking on it.
Click Edit, which is located in the top right corner.
Click Add Zone.
Enter the DNS zone and the IP address of the DNS Server to use for that zone. Note that multiple DNS server IP addresses can be added.
Caution
Ensure that the IP addresses of the DNS servers are reachable. Private DNS servers should be connected to your WPC as Hosts or present in one of the connected private networks.
Click Add DNS Zone.
Click Update.
Check that the details shown in the confirmation dialog box are correct, and click Confirm.
