About DNS Settings
Configure DNS settings in CloudConnexa — covers setting private DNS servers, DNS records, default DNS suffix, DNS zones, and the CloudConnexa DNS Proxy, all from the DNS Settings section of the Administration portal
Overview
CloudConnexa DNS settings control how connected devices resolve domain names. You can use CloudConnexa DNS servers or specify custom DNS servers, configure DNS Proxy and other advanced DNS options, and create DNS records for public or private domains.
Manage DNS Settings
Select Settings → DNS.
DNS Servers
Use the DNS Servers tab to select how connected devices resolve DNS queries.
You can:
Use CloudConnexa DNS servers.
Select Custom and specify primary and secondary IPv4 DNS servers.
When using custom DNS servers, ensure that their IP addresses are reachable from connected clients.
Advanced Configuration
Expand Advanced Configuration on the DNS Servers tab to configure:
DNS Proxy: CloudConnexa acts as a DNS proxy for DNS requests, enabling features that route and filter traffic using domain names. DNS Proxy
Default DNS Suffix: Defines a default suffix that Windows clients can use to resolve hostnames to fully qualified domain names (FQDNs).
DNS Zone: Defines DNS servers for specific DNS zones.
DNS Proxy and Domain Filtering
Domain Filtering applies policies to DNS queries resolved through CloudConnexa. DNS Proxy must be on for Domain Filtering to apply. Refer to Domain Filtering.
If DNS Proxy is off, your Domain Filtering rules remain configured, but CloudConnexa doesn't apply them. Turn DNS Proxy back on to resume filtering.
Known limitation — encrypted DNS
Domain Filtering can filter only DNS queries resolved through CloudConnexa. Encrypted DNS, such as DNS over HTTPS (DoH), can send DNS queries to a third-party resolver instead and bypass Domain Filtering.
For full Domain Filtering coverage, turn off secure or encrypted DNS in browsers and devices, such as through your organization's device policies.
DNS Records
Use the DNS Records tab to add DNS records for public or private domains. DNS records can extend or override your CloudConnexa or Custom DNS Server configuration.
From this tab, you can add, edit, search, and delete DNS records. Refer to DNS Records
