Set Source Network Address Translation (SNAT) for WPC

Abstract

When SNAT is enabled, the source IP address of all inbound traffic from the WPC to your connected clients will be set to the IP address of the connected Region.

Source Network Address Translation (SNAT) is disabled by default. When SNAT is enabled, the source IP address of all inbound traffic from the WPC to your connected clients will be set to the IP address of the connected Region.

CloudConnexa performs SNAT, when enabled, such that when traffic reaches a destination Connector or device, it will have the source IP address from the CloudConnexa WPC Subnet range instead of the actual IP address of the source endpoint. This is helpful because it eliminates the need to configure backward routing from destination resources for remote access.

When SNAT is off, the IP address of the source device is available instead of the IP address of the connected CloudConnexa Region. This might be preferred for some applications like VoIP.

Note

SNAT is disabled by default because it is more efficient for the Connector to carry out the SNAT function instead of doing SNAT within the CloudConnexa infrastructure. The scripts that deploy Connectors have the commands for the Connector to perform SNAT. Therefore, even with CloudConnexa SNAT disabled, there is no need to configure backward routing from destination resources for remote access.
