Manage passwords for a User

Abstract

Various password management functions are available when using the default CloudConnexa username/password authentication. You can generate a temporary password, view it, send it by email, and force the user to change their password

Various password management functions are available when using the default CloudConnexa username/password authentication. You can generate a temporary password, view it, send it by email, and force the user to change their password.

Note

Password management functions are unavailable when SAML or LDAP is in use for authentication.

Generate temporary password

To overwrite the existing password in use by the user and generate a new temporary password, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Users > Users.

  2. Click on the lock_icon.png icon on the row for the User whose password you want to overwrite.

  3. Select Generate temporary password from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click Confirm in the dialog box.

Show temporary password

To view the CloudConnexa-generated temporary password, follow the steps below:

Note

The temporary password can only be viewed until the user creates a permanent password.

  1. Navigate to Users > Users.

  2. Click on the lock_icon.png icon on the row for the User whose password you want to view.

  3. Select Show temporary password from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click the eye icon to see the password in plain text.

  5. Click the clipboard icon to copy the password.

  6. Click Close.

Send temporary password by email

You can initiate a password update for the User's CloudConnexa Account and email the temporary password to the User by following the steps below:

Please set the user's email to be able to send the temporary password. Refer to Edit a User's Account Details to add an email if needed.

  1. Navigate to Users > Users.

  2. Click on the lock_icon.png icon on the row for the User whose password you want to view.

  3. Select Send temporary password by email from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click Confirm in the dialog box.

The User will receive an email with a one-time password.

Force password change

To invalidate a User's current sessions and force the User to change their password, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Users > Users.

  2. Click on the lock_icon.png icon on the row for the User whose password you want to view.

  3. Select Force password change from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click Confirm in the dialog box.
