Create or Edit a Shield Policy
Create or edit a Shield Policy in CloudConnexa — configure a policy name, description, Domain Filtering, Traffic Filtering, and Allow/Block Lists across multiple tabs, and assign User Groups. Use the same form for new and existing policies.
Overview
Create a Shield Policy to apply specific Domain Filtering and Traffic Filtering settings to one or more User Groups. You can also edit an existing policy to change its settings or User Group assignments.
CloudConnexa uses the same configuration page for creating and editing policies. For information about how policies apply to users, Networks, and Hosts, refer to About Shield Policies.
Important
The Default Policy can't be renamed and doesn't have User Group assignments. Networks and Hosts always use the Default Policy. Refer to About the Default Policy.
Shield Policy settings
You configure a Shield Policy using five tabs:
Overview: Configure the Policy name, description, and User Group assignments. When editing a policy, this tab also displays policy details, including who created and last modified the policy and when.
Domain Filtering: Configure Domain Filtering protection levels and content categories. Refer to Domain Filtering.
Domain Allow List: Specify domains that the policy allows.
Domain Block List: Specify domains that the policy blocks.
Traffic Filtering: Configure Traffic Filtering protection levels and categories. Refer to Traffic Filtering.
Create or edit a Shield Policy
Navigate to Shield → Policies.
Do one of the following:
To create a policy, select New Policy.
To edit an existing policy, locate the policy and select Edit.
Tip
For more information about finding and managing policies, refer to Browse and Manage Shield Policies.
On the Overview tab, enter or update the policy details:
Policy name: Enter a unique name of up to 40 characters. The character counter shows the number of characters entered.
Tip
If the Policy name is already used by another policy in your WPC, CloudConnexa displays an inline error, and you can't save the policy until you enter a unique name.
Description: Optionally enter a description of up to 120 characters. This field also displays a character counter.
Assign the appropriate User Groups to the policy.
Note
Each User Group can use only one Shield Policy. If a user belongs to multiple User Groups, the policy assigned to the user's primary User Group determines which filtering settings apply.

Configure the Domain Filtering, Domain Allow List, Domain Block List, and Traffic Filtering tabs as needed.
Select Create Policy(when creating) or Save Changes (when editing).
After you save the policy successfully, CloudConnexa returns you to the Shield Policies list.
Note
Create Policy or Save changes is unavailable when:
Policy name is empty.
Another policy already uses the Policy name.
A save operation is already in progress.
You're editing an existing policy and haven't made any changes.
If saving fails, CloudConnexa keeps your entries and displays an error with an option to retry.
Discard unsaved changes
If you select Cancel after making changes, the Discard unsaved changes? dialog displays. Select:
Discard to leave the configuration page without saving your changes.
Cancel to close the dialog and continue editing.
View policy details and the policy ID
When editing an existing Shield Policy, the Overview tab displays policy details, which include:
Who created the policy and when.
Who last modified the policy and when.
To copy the policy's unique ID, return to the Shield Policies list and select Copy ID for the policy.
