Assign a Certificate to a Profile

OpenVPN Connect supports assigning a PKCS#12 certificate to an appropriate Connection Profile. This guide shows you how.

Before you begin

Ensure you have imported a certificate and have an appropriate connection profile.

Important

The connection profile must not contain the <cert> or <key>. That way, the connection profile requires an external certificate.

  1. Launch OpenVPN Connect.

  2. Click or tap the + icon.

    • The Import Profile screen displays.

  3. Click or tap File.

  4. Upload the .ovpn file by dragging and dropping it in the window or with Browse.

    • The Imported Profile screen displays with profile information.

  5. Under Certificate and Key, click or tap Assign.

    Note

If this option doesn't display, the connection profile includes <cert> and <key>, and you can't attach an external certificate.

    • The Certificates & Tokens screen displays.

  6. Click or tap the appropriate certificate and then Confirm.

    • The Imported Profile screen displays with the certificate attached.
