Virtual Private Server (VPS)

Tutorial: Deploy a Connector on a DigitalOcean Droplet

Abstract

A Droplet is a Virtual Private Server (VPS) in DigitalOcean. A Connector deployed on a Droplet can connect a DigitalOcean VPC to CloudConnexa or be used as a standalone Internet Gateway.

A Droplet is a Virtual Private Server (VPS) in DigitalOcean. A Connector deployed on a Droplet can connect a DigitalOcean VPC to CloudConnexa or be used as a standalone Internet Gateway if it has a public IP address. The internet traffic routed by that Connector will appear to have originated from the assigned public IP address because the Connector installation script turns ON routing and Network Address Translation (NAT) by default.

To use a DigitalOcean Droplet as a Connector in a New Network, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Networks > Networks.

  2. Click Add Network.

  3. Choose all the applicable scenarios and click Continue.

  4. Provide a Name and, optionally, a Description for the Network.

  5. In the Add Connector section, provide a Name and a Description for the Connector optionally.

  6. Select a Region from the drop-down closest to the DigitalOcean data center where the droplet will be deployed and click Next.

  7. When you select Digital Ocean from the Connector Type drop-down, you will see two steps:

    1. The Sign Up step contains a link to sign up on DigitalOcean if you do not have an account.

    2. The Create a Droplet step provides the script that needs to be copied into the User data field under Additional Options while creating the Droplet in DigitalOcean.

  8. Once the Droplet created with the provided script in User data is up and running, click Next.

To add a DigitalOcean Droplet as a Connector in an Existing Network, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Networks > Connectors.

  2. Click Add Connector.

  3. Provide a Name and a Description for the Connector optionally.

  4. Select a Region from the drop-down closest to the DigitalOcean data center where the droplet will be deployed.

  5. Select the prior configured network from the Network drop-down and click Add Connector.

  6. The new Connector will appear in the list. For the new Connector, click Deploy and select Deploy Connector.

Tutorial: Deploy a Connector on a Kamatera Virtual Private Server (VPS)

Abstract

A Connector deployed on a Virtual Private Server (VPS) can connect a Kamatera VPC to CloudConnexa or be used as a standalone Internet Gateway.
