Set CloudConnexa Username & Password Authentication for Users

Abstract

Manage CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication from the Administration portal. CloudConnexa supports multiple authentication methods, allowing you to combine this with LDAP and/or SAML.

Overview

CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication allows users to authenticate directly with credentials managed by CloudConnexa.

Authentication checks are performed, as applicable, whenever a user or administrator attempts to:

  • Sign in to the User portal or the Administration portal.

  • Sign in with OpenVPN Connect to import a connection profile.

  • Connect to the WPC using OpenVPN Connect.

CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication supports:

Note

The Owner always uses the credentials (email and password) associated with the CloudConnexa account. SAML authentication applies only to Users and Administrators of the WPC.

Tip

If you want to offer CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication alongside SAML Single Sign-On (SSO), refer to Multiple Auth Methods.

Before you begin

Before configuring CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication:

  • Ensure you have access to the CloudConnexa Administration portal.

  • Review your organization's password management requirements.

  • Determine whether users should also be offered additional authentication methods through MAM.

Configure CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication

CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication is available by default. If SAML SSO or Private LDAP authentication is currently configured and you want to enable or return to CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings → User Authentication.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Set CloudConnexa Username & Password to Enabled.

  4. Select Enable 'CloudConnexa Username & Password' only, or select to enable more than one authentication method.

    • If you select multiple authentication methods, you can also select to enable CloudConnexa Username & Password for all existing and new users.

  5. Select Confirm.

Note

Existing SAML or LDAP configurations are preserved if you switch authentication methods. You can re-enable them later without re-entering the configuration.

Important

If you replace an existing authentication method with CloudConnexa Username & Password instead of MAM, users created with the previous authentication method are suspended until they authenticate with an enabled authentication method or are otherwise reconfigured.

What happens next

After CloudConnexa Username & Password authentication is enabled:

  • Users can create and manage CloudConnexa passwords in accordance with the configured password policies.

  • Users can authenticate directly with CloudConnexa credentials.

  • 2FA can be enabled for additional security.

  • Additional authentication methods can be configured through MAM.
