Tutorial: Managing nftables Settings in Access Server

Overview

This tutorial explains how to manage custom nftables rules alongside the firewall rules automatically generated by Access Server 3.1.0 and newer. It's intended for experienced Linux administrators who need behavior beyond what's configurable in the Admin Web UI.

Access Server uses nftables to manage packet filtering, NAT, and routing. While the default rules are sufficient for most deployments, advanced environments may require custom nftables tables or chains.

Prerequisites

  • An installed Access Server 3.1.0 or later.

  • Console access and the ability to get root access.

  • Basic knowledge of nftables and the Linux command line.
