Why is My AWS License Limited to Two Connections?

Abstract

How to find a guide to fix the issue where your AWS license for Access Server only allows two connections.

Question: Why am I limited to only two connections on my AWS tiered instance?

Answer:

AWS tiered instances, available through the Amazon AWS Marketplace, are designed to be automatically licensed and billed directly by Amazon AWS upon startup. These instances are identifiable by the "(xx connected devices)" notation in their title. We refer to them as using an AWS license.

Common licensing issues:

  • Security group settings: Often, the issue stems from custom security group settings specified during the launch of the AWS Marketplace Access Server or adjustments made to security groups post-launch that block access to necessary ports.

  • Connection to licensing servers: Another cause of this licensing failure is the inability to connect to our licensing servers. Ensure that your server can reach awspc1.openvpn.net on TCP port 443. Backup licensing servers (awspc2.openvpn.net, awspc3.openvpn.net, and awspc4.openvpn.net) are also available.
