Connect to Access Server for the First Time with OpenVPN Connect
How to connect to OpenVPN's Access Server using OpenVPN Connect and your organization's Client Web UI.
This guide walks you through connecting to Access Server for the first time using OpenVPN Connect and your organization's Client Web UI.
You'll:
Sign in to the Client Web UI.
Download OpenVPN Connect with your personal connection profile.
Install the app.
Connect to your VPN.
What is the Client Web UI?
The Client Web UI is the web page where users sign in to download OpenVPN Connect and manage their VPN profile. It's hosted by your organization's Access Server and is typically accessed using your company's VPN address. If you're unsure of the correct address, contact your administrator.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
A username and password for your VPN account.
The web address (URL) for your Client Web UI. For example:
https://vpn.example.comA supported Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS device.
If you don't have this information, contact your administrator.
Step 1: Sign in to the Client Web UI
Open a web browser.
Enter the Client Web UI address provided by your administrator.
The Login page displays.
Enter your username and password.
Click Sign In.
Tip
If you use SAML authentication: Click Sign In via SAML, then complete authentication with your identity provider.
After signing in, the Get connected page display with an option to download OpenVPN Connect for your OS.
Important
If the page doesn't load, verify the address with your administrator.
Step 2: Download OpenVPN Connect
On the Client Web Get connected page:
Click Download to download the latest version of OpenVPN Connect for your OS.
Wait for the download to complete.
When you download OpenVPN Connect from the Client Web UI, your connection profile is automatically bundled with the installer.
A connection profile contains the settings and certificates needed to securely connect to your organization's VPN.
Step 3: Install OpenVPN Connect
Open the downloaded installer.
Follow the installation prompts for your OS.
Complete the setup process.

After installation:
Launch OpenVPN Connect.
Complete any welcome screens.
Accept the license agreement (EULA).
Your VPN profile should already appear in the app.
Step 4: Connect to Access Server
Launch OpenVPN Connect.
Your VPN profile appears in the app.
Click Connect.
If prompted, enter your VPN password.
Once connected:
The status displays Connected.
Connection statistics appear in the app.
You are now securely connected to your organization's network.
If you can't connect
If you experience issues:
Verify your username and password.
Confirm you're using the correct Client Web UI address.
Ensure your device is connected to the internet.

Submit a support ticket to request help.
