Network and Host Configuration

OpenVPN Cloud’s Administration portal has changed from a Network-centric format to a more Application-centric approach. Now, Administrators can route to Networks and Hosts by creating public or private Applications using only domain names – without the need to configure IP routing. The Network and Host configuration have been improved to eliminate the need to define an Application or IP Subnet Service in a separate step – now, you define your Application Type (protocols and/or ports) or IP Service Type (protocols and/or ports) when you create them – then grant identity-based access as needed.

Network and Host management has also been made easier, with a high-level view of all your Network and Host resources in a single screen or a more granular view of each Network or Host component. When adding a Network or Host to OpenVPN Cloud, Administrators can now focus on access to specific resources without the need to deal with complicated subnet routing. This empowers Administrators to enable micro-segmentation and enforce ZTNA – quicker.

With the old UI, Administrators needed to add Routes for IP subnets and/or Domains before creating Services to establish connectivity with a Network or Host.

Form-based configuration Old UI

Now, Administrators only need to add an Application domain name and/or an IP subnet, define the Application or Service type, and OpenVPN Cloud automatically establishes a route.

Administrators can now create services by defining Application Types (protocols and/or Ports) and IP Service Types (protocols and/or ports) during configuration. For IP Services, Administrators can now enable Use as Source during creation.

Setup Wizards have also been simplified to decrease the number of steps required to add a Network or Host. To learn more, read:

Network and Host settings menus

OpenVPN Cloud’s old interface required Administrators to manage domains and IP Services dependent on their individual Route and subnet configuration for each Network or Host.

Left-nav Old UI

The new interface has improved the visibility and simplified configuration – allowing Administrators to view high-level details and manage Networks or Host Application domains, IP Services, and Connectors.

Network or Host details can be accessed from the left-nav menu. Now with an expanded menu Administrators can view all Networks or Hosts, and view and manage all Applications, IP Services and Connectors.
