Set WPC Topology to control the applicability of access control

Abstract

The default setting for WPC Topology is Full Mesh, which disables Access Groups and allows full access between all connected resources. Setting WPC Topology to Custom enables access control as configured with Access Groups.

The default setting for WPC Topology is Full Mesh, which disables Access Groups and allows full access between all connected resources. Setting WPC Topology to Custom enables access control as configured with Access Groups.

The WPC Topology setting can be considered an ON/OFF toggle for enforcing access control (using Access Groups) at the WPC level.

WPC topology is set to Custom when access to configured Applications, IP Services, Networks, and Hosts needs to be controlled, and only specific end-points need to be authorized to access particular resources. Access Groups need to be configured to implement the required access controls.

Note

Changing WPC Topology from Full Mesh to Custom would restrict all access to connected resources if the required Access Groups were not configured before the change. A Default Full Mesh Access Group that allows full access between all connected resources is present by default to avoid service disruption. Delete it after you have created the required Access Groups.

To set WPC Topology, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings > WPC.

  2. Click Edit, which is located in the top right corner.

  3. Select either Full Mesh or Custom in the WPC Topology section.

  4. Click Update.

  5. Check that the details shown in the confirmation dialog box are correct, and click Confirm.
