# Add a Device for a User

Devices are automatically added to the User when the User authenticates and downloads a connection profile from a device. If automatic profile distribution is disabled, you need to add a Device for the User. Refer to [Profile Distribution](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/settings/settings---users/set-the-profile-distribution-mode-for-users.md).

To add a Device to a User, follow the steps below:

1. Sign in to your WPC's Administration Portal at your **Cloud ID** address (for example, `yourcompany.openvpn.com`).
2. Navigate to **Users \> Devices**.
3. Click **Add Device**.
4. For **Name**, provide a name for the device.
5. For **Description**, optionally provide one.
6. For **User**, select one from the drop-down list. Search can be used by typing in the field.
7. For **Client UUID**, optionally provide the device's UUID.

   > **Note**
   >
   > UUID is required if DIVE **Enforce mode** is enabled. Refer to [Device Identity Verification and Enforcement (DIVE)](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/settings/settings---users/set-the-device-identity-verification---enforcement--dive--policy-for-users.md)

8. Click **Add Device**.
