# Add an Application to a Host

An Application can be added to a Host while configuring the new Host using the wizard. Refer to [Add a Host to access an Application Server](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/hosts/hosts---hosts/add-a-host-to-access-an-application-server.md). A Host Application is used for access control. The Application's domain name is implicitly resolved to any of the Host Connector's tunnel IP addresses. For more information, refer to [About Host Applications](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/hosts/hosts---applications/about-host-applications.md).

You can add an Application to an existing Host from the Applications tab shown in the detailed view as shown in [View, make changes, and delete a Host](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/hosts/hosts---hosts/view-make-changes-and-delete-a-host.md), or you can add it from the Host Applications list as shown below:

> **Note**
>
> The Host needs to be configured with a domain name to add Applications.

1. Sign in to your WPC's Administration Portal at your **Cloud ID** address (for example, `yourcompany.openvpn.com`).
2. Navigate to **Hosts \> Applications**.
3. Click **Add Application**.
4. Provide the **Name** of the Application.
5. Optionally, provide a **Description**.
6. Select a Host from the **Host** drop-down.
7. Optionally, restrict the protocols allowed for accessing the Application by selecting specific **Application Type (Host protocols)**.
8. Optionally, provide a subdomain.
9. Click **Add Application**.

> **Note**
>
> Remember to use the newly created Application in Access Groups. Refer to [Add an Access Group to allow access](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/access/access---groups/add-an-access-group-to-allow-access.md).
>
> View who is accessing this Application using Access Visibility. Refer to [Find the Number of Blocked and Allowed Access Events From a Traffic Source to a Destination](https://openvpn.net/cloud-docs/owner/access/access---visibility/find-the-number-of-blocked-and-allowed-access-events-from-a-traffic-source-to-a-destination.md).
