Sign In and Complete First-Time Setup in the Admin Web UI

Abstract

Sign in to the Access Server Admin Web UI for the first time — covers certificate warnings, EULA acceptance, license activation for BYOL deployments, the Onboarding Wizard, and the optional Admin Web UI tour introduced in Access Server 3.2.2.

Now that you have your Admin Web UI URL, username, and temporary password, you can sign in and complete the initial Access Server setup:

  1. Open a web browser and enter your Admin Web UI address.

  2. If a certificate warning displays, continue to the site.

    Tip

Access Server can use either a browser-trusted certificate or its default self-signed certificate, depending on how your server was deployed and configured.

If Access Server is using a self-signed certificate, your browser displays an expected certificate warning. The connection is still encrypted, but the browser can't automatically verify the server's identity.

  3. Enter your administrative username and password.

    Tip

For many new installations, the initial administrative username is openvpn.

  4. Review the End User License Agreement (EULA), if prompted, and select Agree.

  5. If Activate your Access Server displays, enter a valid license activation key to continue. If you need an activation key, select Go to Access Server Hub to get a new subscription.

    Tip

The activation step appears only on deployments that require activation before you can access the rest of the Admin Web UI.

  6. Complete the Onboarding Wizardif it displays.

    Tip

The Onboarding Wizard guides you through initial access configuration, downloading OpenVPN Connect, and testing your first VPN connection.

  7. After the wizard, follow the optional Admin Web UI tour to learn about key areas of the interface, or close the tour to continue on your own.

Note

Starting with Access Server 3.2.2, the Onboarding Wizard and Admin Web UI tour display during the first-run experience on a fresh installation. They don't automatically display after an Access Server upgrade.
