# High Availability in Access Server

Access Server supports two high-availability setups:

1. [Clustering](https://openvpn.net/as-docs/cluster-setup.md)
2. [Failover](https://openvpn.net/as-docs/failover-setup.md)

Click on the section for the high-availability mode best suited for your environment. Clustering uses two or more simultaneously active servers with a configuration stored on a shared database. Failover uses two servers in the same network location, with one active and one serving as a standby node.

## The benefits of high availability

- Deploy a **team** of Access Servers.
- Provide consistent **up-time**.
- Increase **load capacity** across multiple servers.
- **Remove a single point of failure** with one Access Server.
