Yeah, do that and screw up a perfectly working setup.
He does not want things to go over VPN. Exactly the opposite.
Send as few as possible over VPN.
 
Bart, what does IPCONFIG/ALL say ?
What does "nslookup www.google.com" say ?
That will tell you if DNS traffic is going over VPN or not.

Sounds like you haven't made the VPN your default route.  Add:

push "redirect-gateway"

To your server config and restart the server.
