As a confirmation step it would be good to add a "netstat -rn" to the
script, just before the route command.

Can you arrange for for the server simply not to push that route to
you - that's probably easier (and cleaner).

That's the entire config file?

That error suggests that you're not providing some information.  What
command line options have you set?
