[Openvpn-users] Incredibly short DHCP leases + OpenVPN

Hi,

I'm currently in a hotel in NJ. They have WAYPORT here.
I'm running OpenVPN (1.6 admittedly) on FreeBSD 5.x. I DHCP my IP,
but the lease times here are *27* minutes! Even worse, I don't think
I've gotten the same IP in the 6 hours I've been here.

	My home.up is :

#!/usr/local/bin/bash
route add -net 10.0.0.0 $5 255.255.255.0
route add -host OPENVPNSERVERIP `netstat -rn | grep default | awk '{print $2}'` 255.255.255.255
route delete default
route add default 10.1.0.1

So when things come up, and are peachy, I have :

Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Netif Expire
default 10.1.0.1 UGS 0 12 tun0
10/24 10.1.0.1 UGS 0 0 tun0
10.1.0.1 10.1.0.2 UH 2 6 tun0
64.134.163/25 link#1 UC 0 0 xl0
64.134.163.1 00:40:63:c9:f8:59 UHLW 2 95 xl0 1189
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 0 37921 lo0
OPENVPNSERVERIP/32 64.134.163.1 UGS 0 62 xl0

but as an example, the lease lapsed twice and now it looks like :

Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Netif Expire
default 64.134.163.1 UGS 0 13 xl0
10/24 10.1.0.1 UGS 0 0 tun0
10.1.0.1 10.1.0.2 UH 1 329 tun0
64.134.163/25 link#1 UC 0 0 xl0
64.134.163.1 00:40:63:c9:f8:59 UHLW 2 0 xl0 1199
64.134.163.20 127.0.0.1 UGHS 0 0 lo0
64.134.163.28 link#1 UHLW 1 4 xl0
127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 UH 1 38861 lo0

I see the "--ipchange cmd" option, but it seems to be
for "remote ip-address". Other places it talks about dhcpd, not dhclient
like I'm using.

Has anyone found a way around annoyances like this?
