There are a number of updates to the bridge code (tap device) on 
FreeBSD since 6.2 came out.  Perhaps try cvsuping to RELENG_6 and 
seeing if that helps.   Or, if you dont need to use bridge mode, 
tunnel mode works very well under FreeBSD 6.2
