[Openvpn-users] Client cannot add routes (UDP/Vista/EVDO PPP connection)

I found a workaround.  After setting verbosity to 4 in my OpenVPN client config file, I saw the routes that the client was attempting to add.  Upon adding them by hand (cutting from logs, pasting into a shell), everything seems to work nicely over my EVDO-provided PPP connection.

So, why can’t the OpenVPN client add the routes itself?  My client log shows the following:

Wed May 23 23:08:14 2007 us=694000 route ADD 10.1.0.0 MASK 255.255.0.0 10.1.31.141

The route addition failed: The object already exists.

Wed May 23 23:08:14 2007 us=850000 route ADD 10.1.31.129 MASK 255.255.255.255 10.1.31.141

The route addition failed: The object already exists.

The object does not already exist, a “route print” shows those nowhere to be found. Why is it having problems running the shell command?  I am running the client as administrator.

My client config has:

pull route

route-method exe
