Depends on your definition of "client/server" mode.
What I am trying to do is use certificates. I followed the openvpn
howto and finally generated all certs, keys, dhparams.
Is 1.6.0 sufficient for that purpose?
OpenVPN 1.6 supports TLS mode with certs, however it only supports ONE
client per OpenVPN server instance. There is no problem with running
multiple openvpn daemons on one server though, but it requires one unique
udp/tcp port and tun/tap interface per instance.
I'd strongly recommend OpenVPN 2.0 instead, which supports, what I guess
is what you mean with "client/server" mode, multiple clients connecting to
ONE server, over one udp/tcp port and one tun/tap interface.
See the 2.0 release notes for more info.
