Karsten,

Are you trying to build the RPM for RH 9?

If so, try the latest version of OpenVPN (1.4.0) -- there is a workaround for
a bug/anomoly in RH 9 which requires some non-standard options on the gcc
command line in order to build and link with the OpenSSL library.
