Vyatta and OpenVPN Partner to Deliver Integrated Remote Access VPN Solution
Auto-Configuring VPN Simplifies VPN Implementation and Maintenance for Branch Offices and Remote Workers
BELMONT, CA--(Marketwire - November 17, 2009) - Vyatta, the leader in Linux-based networking, today announced it has teamed with technology partner OpenVPN to deliver an auto-configuring VPN solution for branch offices and remote workers. The integrated solution makes it far easier to configure VPNs for remote sites, reducing implementation time and maintenance costs and delivering a complete VPN solution at a fraction of the cost of proprietary solutions.
The product integration allows IT administrators to manage security associations via the OpenVPN Access Server (OpenVPN-AS) interface in the datacenter. New technology, integrated with Vyatta, allows Vyatta nodes to quickly retrieve OpenVPN configuration parameters from a centralized OpenVPN-AS node over the network, virtually eliminating configuration mistakes and simplifying the creation of OpenVPN tunnels throughout the enterprise. The new technology integration enhances Vyatta's already strong SSL-based OpenVPN capabilities and makes it easy to terminate OpenVPN tunnels managed through OpenVPN-AS with Vyatta routing and security appliances.
"Vyatta has become the smart choice for companies looking to build out their networking infrastructures using a cost-effective, open platform," said Francis Dinha, CEO at OpenVPN. "Vyatta perfectly complements our OpenVPN Access Server solution. Working together, these products provide organizations with the simplest and lowest-cost way to offer secure, private networking throughout the extended enterprise."
OpenVPN-AS is a set of installation and configuration tools that simplify the rapid deployment of a VPN remote access solution. It's based on the popular OpenVPN open-source software, making the deployed VPN immediately compatible with OpenVPN client software across multiple user platforms. Vyatta runs on standard x86 hardware and delivers a full set of networking features that allow customers to connect, protect, virtualize, and optimize their networks, improving performance, reducing costs, and increasing manageability and flexibility compared to proprietary networking solutions.
"Our partnership with OpenVPN is an important example of how we are extending the capabilities of Vyatta using open platforms that drive additional cost and complexity out of networking infrastructure," said Dave Roberts, Vyatta's vice president of strategy and marketing. "The ability to set up low-cost, hassle-free VPNs using Vyatta and OpenVPN-AS is a key differentiator for budget-conscious companies building out their organizations or wanting to take advantage of the cost benefits of a remote workforce."
Availability and Pricing
The new integrated auto-configuration functionality ships immediately as part of the Vyatta Subscription Edition only, and is available directly from the Vyatta. Pricing for the Subscription Edition starts at $747. The OpenVPN Access Server is available directly from OpenVPN.

"We're thrilled that OpenVPN open source software has earned Veracode's 'A' security rating," said Francis Dinha, Chief Executive Officer, OpenVPN Technologies, Inc.
