OpenVPN just handles the ip routing/tunneling part - the domain part is a separate issue - dealing with windows networking. If you know the IP address of the machine (windows server or ?) you can access the shares by (On XP for example): By going to Start button -> run -> type \\ipaddress and hit enter It will then prompt for a password and/or give you a list of the resources available through windows networking (SMB) on that machine. You may get more functionality by setting your DNS entry on your home machine to the DNS server of the office network - although that will also lead to extra traffic normal web surfing will also send queries to the office server. -----Original Message----- From: openvpn-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:openvpn-users-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of strong frakk Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2007 4:05 PM To: openvpn-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [Openvpn-users] basic question about windows domain and openvpn Hi, I have openvpn connection between my home and our office, how can i access the computer of our office? I can use the mssql server of the office via query analizer so the openvpn works properly. But i dont know the name conventions to access other shared folders of computers. I dont understand the connection between openvpn and our domain system. Maybe i must login in our domain via vpn but i dont know how. I could not find any openvpn and domain access related document. Thanks in advance! Csaba ___________________________________________________________ Sent by ePrompter, the premier email notification software.
