[Openvpn-users] OpenVPN killing connection on OS X

  • Subject: [Openvpn-users] OpenVPN killing connection on OS X

I recently moved to a new computer and suddenly I can't run any
packet capturing utilities on my OpenVPN interface. (In my case, tun0.)

The new computer is an Intel Mac running OS X 10.4. The old computer
was a PowerPC Mac running OS X 10.4. Otherwise, everything is the
same -- same configuration file, same endpoint, same version of
OpenVPN (2.0.5, as included with Tunnelblick), same wireless router.

I've also tried this with 2.0.6 and had the same problems. I didn't
see any posts on the mailing lists, so I'm hoping somebody else might
have seen this, or knows...

tcpdump simply doesn't return any data. (0 packets captured.)

Running Wireshark (and an older version of Ethereal) causes me to
drop my wireless connection. Usually I can't immediately reconnect
either, for some odd reason.

This is really disappointing as I spend most of my time connecting
via OpenVPN. In the meantime, I'm going to setup OpenVPN on my
desktop, and route a subnet to it, but I do spend a fair amount of
time on the road, so I'd love to solve this problem.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks-
-Ed
