Yes -- I totally agree that the spam on this list has reached 
unacceptable levels.

Unfortunately the web interface provided by Sourceforge to manage 
project mailing lists is almost useless for configuring spam filtering 
settings.   I looked through the various options, and unless I'm missing 
something, I did not notice any 'only allow list users to post' 
settings.  It certainly was there a while back, but it seems to be 
missing now.

At this point, I'm strongly considering moving openvpn-users, 
openvpn-devel, and openvpn-announce off of sourceforge and onto one of 
the openvpn.net servers.  This would give myself and the OpenVPN project 
full control of the mailing lists, and a much better ability to keep the 
lists spam-free.
