My first guesses would be firewall rules or your name resolution setup.

The most important thing to know would be whether you are using a routed
setup (dev tun) or bridged (dev tap).

Beyond that, you said you can ping them but you didn't say whether you
could ping them by IP address, by name or both.

If you are using a routed setup and if you can ping by address but not
by name, I would look at the DNS/WINS settings on your client.

For better guesses, please let us know more about your setup and
configuration.
