I did this many times and didn't had any problems. And now, you have the
tunnel facility in ssh, that you can tunnel udp, and other things. But
don't know why you would want to use. I prefer making temporary tunnels
with ssh for simple one port services and like. For a more permanent
vpn, use only OpenVPN.
