Hi Charles,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Reverting to rc1 has meant that the DNS is
now in configd after a connect. However, I still can't lookup properly.

Before I connect:

resolver #1
  search domain[0] : danalderman.co.uk
  nameserver[0] : 192.168.0.3
  order   : 200000

After I connect:

resolver #1
  domain : thefoundry.co.uk
  search domain[0] : danalderman.co.uk
  search domain[1] : thefoundry.co.uk
  nameserver[0] : 192.168.0.3
  nameserver[1] : 192.9.200.5
  order   : 200000

So it seems it has overridden my default domain setting of
danalderman.co.uk with thefoundry.co.uk.

Unfortunately I still can't resolve machine names that are definitely in
the DNS.  Using dig:

dig @192.9.200.5 ronnie
[snip]
;; ANSWER SECTION:
ronnie.                 0       IN      A       192.9.200.39

but

$ ping ronnie
ping: cannot resolve ronnie: Unknown host

$ ping ronnie.thefoundry.co.uk
ping: cannot resolve ronnie.thefoundry.co.uk: Unknown host

It also seems to break everything when I disconnect again.
scutil --dns (after disconnecting)

resolver #1

and that's it. I have to reset my default interface to bring it back to
life again.

Thanks and regards,

D.
