What he meant was that "SSL VPN solutions" are often marketed with claims
that no additional client software is required, other than a browser.
What these "solutions" actually are is mostly some intranet portal users can
access with https to read mail, submit print jobs and suchlike. They are not
VPNs; or, if they are, they do require client software - possibly written in
Java so it _looks_ as if only the browser were necessary.
