Hi!
I don't understand how openvpn server assigns ip address to clients. I studied
server directive but without success.

In my tests I note that:
If I don't set ip client (using configuration file in
client-configuration-dir), server assigns to client wrong (I think ip):

server
tun0 address 10.8.0.1 p-t-p: 10.8.0.2

client
tun0 address 10.8.0.6 p-t-p: 10.8.0.5

why??

because every client has its own /30. Use openvpn 2.1 and --topology subnet if you want a /32 for each client

See:
http://openvpn.net/howto.html just over half way down, just above "Using alternative authentication methods"
http://openvpn.net/man.html search for --ifconfig-pool
http://openvpn.net/man-beta.html search for --topology
