Your client that's 10.8.0.50 on the vpn -- what is it on the Internet?
Can you ping it from the Internet?
no what i mean is this. if i connect from the internet to port 26 to my
server gateway, which forwards port 26 over vpn to the client, 10.8.0.50,
it gets stuck, and there's no answer. on my client, tcpdump -i tun0 picks
up somethin', but i've got no idea what it is : )
to me the point is, is it supposed to work like that? server gateway,
connected to the internet, forwards port 26 to the client vpn ip, which
is runnin' sshd on port 26, and when i connect to server gateway from the
internet, i get access to my client. will that work? if yes, based on what
i typed in the first message, am i missin' any steps?
i'm doin' this because in italy, we've got this isp called fastweb.
that's our isp. it's really fast, like it gives you a 6mbit/second
connection, but there's a trick. you're behind like a gigantic firewall.
your public ip is shared by many other boxes in your town, for instance.
so i can't ssh to my box. so, i set up a vpn and hoped i could forward a
port, namely 26, from my father's office, which *does* have a public ip,
to my client over the vpn. is that doable? how? remember that from any
box on the server lan, i can ssh to my client thruogh the vpn fine, so
they all see it and can connect to it.
thankyou! : )
ciao! : )
