Until I saw the other answer in the thread by Mattias, I didn't know that the path was relative to the config file. Also I was using the wrong syntax for using a path. I'll now use your syntax with no path.


It might sound obvious to you, but it wasn't to me (tunnel vision/mind?).

To be accurate, it's not relative to the config file location, it's relative to the start-up directory of openvpn.exe, and when you use OpenVPN GUI or the OpenVPN service this is set to the path of your config file folder.
