I had this problem too on a system. I've created my certificates on a
machine which was with their date some years in the future. The openvpn
process won't start untill the certificate is valid. Consider using some
sort of automatic time synchronization as ntp or htp. I personally use
an script that run hourly and update my time. If your timezone is
properly configured is can even deal with daylight savings periods. I
don't know if you can change the date on a certificate, does anynone
here know? Or you have to re-create the certificates? Anyway, watch out
your date and time.
