Unfortunatly, there are no other inexpensive quad-cards I'm aware of,
so I'm stuck with D-Link.
But the thing that bothers me: Why do I get full speed if I use direct
access and horrible speed if I use OpenVPN? Maybe the additional tun-
interface has something to do with it. But as a matter of fact, I have
no idea where to look. At least OpenBSD doesn't have mii. 
I'm not actually sure D-Link is to blame in this case, maybe it's
simply a driver bug, since the card behaves just fine in every other
situation. 
I just wanted to replace the hostap-interface used for VPN
with a Netgear WG602, but this device sucks just as much. 1062ms ping
after a few minutes high traffic. Well, at least my 4 years old 3Com
switch never caused any trouble...

OK, I'll put this problem under "no idea what the hell happened" and
try to work around the problem.
