[Openvpn-users] netmask

  • Subject: [Openvpn-users] netmask

Friday, I had written the list with a problem. I was trying to use a tun interface and a netmask of 255.255.240.0 for my VPN clients. This was not working. ksp - knetdome explained that with VPN clients, there is only one netmask that is used - 255.255.255.255 because the link is point to point. However, when I go to create a VPN in the server configuration file using the "server" command, the arguments are "network" and "netmask"! No matter what netmask is used, the mask on the client is 255.255.255.255. Can someone take another stab at trying to explain the details between the netmask specified on the "server" line, and the netmask on the client? How are they related?

Thanks in advance...
