Let me see if i got. Your server up with ip 192.168.8.1 and your
client gets ip 192.168.8.5. But this make the network on the client to
stop. This looks like you are using the same subnet on the vpn range
that is used on your client private subnet. What is the ip of the client
machine, not the one on the tun interface? If it is on the subnet
192.168.8.0/24, it's clear which is the problem. Change the vpn range,
that it should work.
