A little over a year ago when I first set up my initial OpenVPN link,
everything worked perfectly for 30 days, and abruptly stopped. The
problem, it turned out, was that my home-built certificates had expired.
After some fumbling about, I managed to make certificates that lasted
365 days, and all were happy. Of course, the certificates expired yesterday didn't they? Easy (if a little inconvenient) to fix of course. I always meant to set up a little scripty thing that would help me generate and distribute new certificates before they expired, but I have never got around to it. So I am now wondering: Q1: Except for guaranteeing commercial certificate authorities continued revenues, what is the case for making the various certificates expire? Q2: What does everyone else do regarding their openvpn certificates? Cheers!
