Re: [Openvpn-users] client seeking server...

James,

My apologies if I've sounded like I was criticising.

Q2.1 Is this possibly a bug?

No, the behaviour makes sense -- if you use --persist-remote-ip you are
telling OpenVPN to reuse its current remote IP on restart.

I was trying to ask the question softly, so it didn't sound critical. I actually understood the --persist-remote-ip option was meant for the situation I was describing in my post:

(from openvpn.net/man.html)

In the context of multiple --remote parameters, I understood that this option would cause the client to attempt to reconnect to the most recently authenticated remote server.

Given that, I was trying to ask if the fact that --persist-remote-ip disabled multiple --remote options was unintentional, since disabling the multiple --remote options effectively disables the possibility of having multiple remote servers, and hence much of the point of the option.

Looking at the --remote-random option, I do understand that there is more than one use of multiple --remote options.

Thank you for all your hard work that has produced a really impressive product.

Cheers!
Nik.
