Hardware is unimportant. (if you do not play some useless games with
your CFLAGS, but you are an OpenBSD user not an Gentoo-Freak...)
What about using packages?
OpenVPN 1.6 is in the portstree, if you want to use 2.0betaxx it is
very simple to use the existing port and build a port for 2.0.
Example port: www.openbsd.de/~wbx/openvpn.tgz
Then you can take /usr/ports/packages/i386/all/openvpn-2.0_beta15.tgz
and /usr/ports/packages/i386/all/lzo-1.08.tgz
to install it via pkg_add on another x86 system.
