I have one problem: On my Windows XP SP2 client, OpenVPN does *not* work

(and reconnect many times) without problems.

At the same time, the TAP-Win32 adapter is stuck in the "Netzwerkadresse
beziehen" state. (German for "getting network address", i.e. it's sending
out DHCP requests.)

This is the old unexplained mystery of SP2.
With me this was caused by Kerio Personal Firewall. After I removed it everything started working again. Disabling firewall wasn't enough. I had to completely uninstall it to get OpenVPN working. This "bug" affects also other network adapters, so even your norman lan card might stop working at some conditions.

So check all network related programs and try uninstalling them. (Lots of work and might not even work).
