I've been struggling with creating a VPN for a few days now. I have managaged to create a bridge to my lan on my XP. My friend manages to connect to it. We manage to ping eachothers with the new 192.168.0.x IPs and I even managed to find his client (running on w2k btw) on the network neighbourhood. But what doesn't work very good is playing the games we're trying to. Search for games finds the games running, and in one game even manage to join. Then it claims for a lot of connection problems and drops. The other game doesn't even join.
Thinking a lot of udp packages get lost somewhere. Even close?
Tried with several configurations, without bridge, proto tcp-server, fragment 1300, mssfix 1400, compressions, without compressions, but always the same result. with protocol as tcp my friend managed to stay in game for a minute or so, before dropout. Still, i didn't see his character move around, so don't think that worked either.
XP has it's own VPN, but didn't even manage to start the service up, and didn't find help for that on the net. But I give it to you. Great piece of software you have here, for those it works for at least ;)
