Brad,

Thanks for the notes.  I've never been able to reproduce this issue, and I've
also posted to microsoft.public.development.device.drivers about it without
any solution being proposed except that I should run the driver through the
usual test suite such as verifier.exe, NDISTest, etc.  I've done this, and the
current driver passes all of these tests on a single-processor machine (and I
might add that these tests are quite strict, and that passing them is a
prerequisite for WHQL certification).

At this point I would agree with you that the problem may be
interaction-based, and it's good to know that McAfee is a potential interactor.

BTW, this problem of loading/unloading drivers corrupting winsock is common
enough that someone has actually written a utility called WinsockFix to repair
the registry when this occurs.
