[Openvpn-users] Connecting two Win2k machines

  • Subject: [Openvpn-users] Connecting two Win2k machines

Hi,

At work I have a smallish network on a class C subnet (192.168.1.xxx). My home machine is Win2k, as is the remote one. I want to be able to browse and connect to network shares on the remote computer.

Using OpenVPN I have so far been able to ping the machine I connect to and make a NetMeeting call to it. However, I have not been able browse the network or access any network shares on the remote machine at work.

I have tried with both a TAP and TUN virtual adapter (both of which worked in the sense that I could ping across the tunnel). I have disabled MS networking on the ethernet adapter on the client (i.e. home) machine and enabled it on the virtual adapter.

Does anyone have any advice? I have a linux machine on the work network which I am considering using since there is more documentation on using Linux so if I draw a blank on this I'll try that solution out. It's preferable anyway since I'll be able to use the routing to make the home machine accessible to all the work machines.

Thanks in advance,

Tim
