Hello again James,

Status report.

When I was running OpenVPN using kernel 2.6.0-test5 on the server
(fixed IP) and 2.4.22 on the client (DHCP) the link would die until
manually restarted on at least 30% of occasions when the IP address
was renegotiated. That happens daily, so it was going down two or
three times a week at least. I'm also suspicious that some of the
problems I had getting OpenVPN to work in the first instance might
have been attributable to the test kernel.

Since I've been using kernel 2.4.22 at both ends, the link has gone
down twice in a month which is a very much better performance and
suggests to me that there is a problem in the 2.6.0-test5 kernel,
not in OpenVPN. I don't know the reason(s) for the two failures
I've seen with 2.4.22 but since this is now not biting me so hard,
and other things are, I doubt I'll get around to investigating.

I'm still using version 1.5.0-beta9 of OpenVPN, I plan to upgrade
soonish but I don't know when I'll get the time.

Just FYI.

73,
Ged.
