For example, http://www.whalecommunications.com/ (has a nice whitepaper somewhere on SSL VPN's and specifically their 'e-Gap' thingy which I mean to duplicate some day ;-)). The trade-off is the same as always: no client install, but less functionality. OpenVPN is more a 'traditional' VPN in that it requires software at both ends but in turn lets you route arbitrary traffic.
